We are descendants of the Lewis branch of Clan McLeod by way of my great, great, great grandfather Murdock McLeod who settled in North Carolina in the early 1800's

Murdocks grandson was Alexander Calvin Martin, my great grandfather.

Alexander Calvin Martin, fought and was captured at Gettysburg on the afternoon of July 3rd, while fighting with his unit, Company B, Second Florida, C.S.A.. He was captured at the foot of Little Round Top by a German mercenary fighting for General Daniel E. Sickle. The soldier inquired as to why A.C. was fighting Gen Sickle, clearly unaware of the drivers for the war between the states.

A.C. Martin had previously participated in the 2nd Battle of Manassas and at Sharpsburg.  The Second Florida was part of Anderson's Division of General A.P. Hills Corp
